I remember the call like it was yesterday but it seems like an
eternity that has passed since we spoke or went on our sister
adventures. I replay three voicemails and the video of Toni singing
special (really speckled) frogs just so I don’t forget her voice. I
read through old birthday cards and letters so I can feel my sister’s
love just one more time. She is my first thought in the morning and
last thought before I go to bed. It seems like everywhere I go or do
brings up a memory of my baby sister. I miss her more than anyone will
understand and I hope never has to face. I cry daily and some days the
pain is so bad that I can’t breathe.
On May 31, 2017, I received
the phone call that changed my life and my family’s forever. My
youngest sister, Toni, passed away from a heroin overdose. Toni was and
always will be loved but love couldn’t save her. Toni battled one of
the most difficult diseases known to man. Addiction is NOT a choice!
We have always been and will always be Team Toni! The days since May
31, 2017 have been the most difficult and dark days of my life and with
each passing day it gets harder but I know Toni is watching over us and
cheering us on as we speak and share her story in hopes of helping those
who suffer the way she did.
This walk is so important to me and my family because we can honor
Toni and keep her shining bright but also so that another family doesn’t
have to live this nightmare we find ourselves living.
help me reach my goals by making a donation. No donation is too small
and nothing is too large. Each dollar counts and will hopefully help
save someone’s life. Every dollar is so greatly appreciated. It can’t
bring my sister back but I know she would do everything in her power to
help. PLEASE Donate Today!
We also want you to join Team Toni
and walk with us on September 22, 2018. I am walking to raise awareness
that drug and alcohol addiction is a public health concern, and to
raise funds for PRO-ACT’s prevention, advocacy, and recovery support
services. People do recover! Will you help us in this war on addiction?
Donate now and help support this great cause.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
